Position Description:
Retail Sales Managers have responsibility for leading the retail consumer and small business efforts of one or more offices within a community. They are responsible for ensuring the success of First Citizens across all lines of business through collaboration with partners to generate sales and referrals. This role will execute on a sales and business plan, coach sales associates to improve performance, and represent First Citizens in the community. The Retail Sales Manager may directly or indirectly contribute to branch goals. This role has overall responsibility for the delivery of superior customer service, operational integrity, and adherence to bank policy as well as all Federal and State regulations. They routinely demonstrate and apply the standards of We?re on it that support the bank?s core values of service, accountability and common sense in day-to-day performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Credit Risk Management
? Responsible for management of loan portfolio for officers within the unit ensuring all documentation is in place and applicable terms and conditions are adhered to
? Routinely reviews the asset quality of all loans assigned to the branch, ensuring referrals of problem situations are made to the appropriate associate
? Ensures all loans are approved within assigned lending authority and that approvals outside of authority are referred to the appropriate associate
? Maintains an in depth knowledge of consumer and small business credit policies and procedures
Sales Performance and Leadership
? Responsible for interpreting, communicating and ensuring the ongoing execution of initiatives and procedures
? Develops and integrates tactical plans for retail consumer and small business that will achieve the overall business plan/budget
? Plans activities, monitors results and assesses performance for individuals and unit
? Develops associates? sales and service skills, by conducting regular observations and providing feedback
? Conducts one-on-one performance reviews, ensuring performance action or development plans are in place, followed up and modified as needed
? Regularly reviews branch performance gaps and opportunities, using observations, best practices and tips to improve and enhance team performance
? Responsible for the attraction, retention, development and deployment of human resources within the unit
? Prepares and participates in bank and branch meetings, goal setting sessions and group huddles
? Ensures the standards of We?re on it and Customers First in every customer interaction, adding value to the customer experience and helping to maintain satisfactory branch/hub survey results
? Maintains an in depth knowledge of ancillary services, deposit products and consumer and small business lending products. Understands the basics of commercial and private banking products and services. Has an awareness of all other financial services offered by the bank and it?s affiliates
? Provides financial advice by having conversations with customers to understand their needs, uncover current and future opportunities, and recommend a full range of deposit/loan products and service solutions (Needs Based Selling)
? Works closely with partners in Commercial, Private Banking, Retail Banking, Cash Management, First Citizens Securities, and Capital Management to deliver complete client banking solutions
? Ensures the effective utilization of TouchPoint as a contact management tool to support customer retention and source proactive contact opportunities
? Ensures documentation of customer contacts, information gathered and outcomes in TouchPoint for future reference and follow up
? Supplements bank lead lists provided in TouchPoint with locally generated contact opportunities from community contacts and referrals (Ad Hoc)
? Regularly makes joint calls with branch associates
? Uses self analysis techniques to assess opportunities to improve personal quantity and quality of customer contacts and openly asks for coaching support
Operating Efficiency
? Ensures the ongoing management of the branch facility, people, budget (including salaries), credit, and operational risk policies and procedures
? Ensures branch associates operate within all delegated authorities for lending limits (if applicable), service charge refunds, waived fees, check negotiation and rate deviations
? Ensures branch associates adhere to all compliance requirements, including Customer Identification Program and all product documentation and disclosure requirements
? Ensures branch associates accurately complete documentation for all products and services minimizing exceptions to reduce customer impact
? Ensures the documentation and fee collection processes and procedures associated with real estate secured loans are adhered to and follow up is completed
? Responsible for ensuring a balance between growth and profitability
? Ensures branch associates complete annual training and assessments
? Ensures branch associates adhere to all bank policies and regulatory requirement
Communication/Teamwork/Partnering
? Communicates the corporate vision and assists associates in understanding how their individual priorities, goals and deliverables impact branch and market objectives
? Ensures associates are working together within the branch, between branches and with home office associates
? Regularly consults with credit risk partners to ensure common understanding and application of policies and procedures
? Ensures good lines of communication exist within branches, market, division and bank providing feedback to specific areas when improvements are recognized
? Actively participates in local ?deal teams? to leverage partners in the acquisition and retention of customers and prospects
? Shares best practices within branch, market, division and bank to build success and shares opportunities to provide recognition or reward to all associates
? Performs other duties not described in the position description in support of the overall bank
Position Requirements: ? Minimum of 5 years experience in a sales, business development, customer relations, supervision, and/or lending capacity
? Excellent knowledge of retail banking products/services
? Ability to manage motivate, lead, and coach an effective sales team
? Excellent oral and written communications skills
? Ability to positively represent First Citizens through community involvement
? High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
? Computer skills to include Microsoft Windows
