Jack White, Beck and Bon Iver top the lineup for the 2012 Sasquatch! Music festival, once again set for Memorial Day weekend (May 25 to 28) at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state.

Joining them on the bill is a virtual who's who of top indie talent, including the Shins, Beirut, Girl Talk, Feist, St. Vincent, Silversun Pickups, Metric, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Spiritualized, Tune-Yards, Kurt Vile (and many, many more). The Roots, Childish Gambino, Shabazz Palaces and AraabMuzik chip in for hip-hop, and Nick Kroll, Todd Barry and Rob Delaney will provide the comedy.

The 'Quatch headlining slot is Jack White's first confirmed gig since announcing earlier this week he was going solo with the premiere of a brand-new song, "Love Interruption," and an upcoming album, Blunderbuss. Not to be outdone, White's fellow headliner Beck will be making his first high-profile appearance in nearly three years at the fest. (Beck made his return to the stage with a handful of intimate gigs — including Neil Young's annual Bridge School benefit shows — toward the end of last year).

As for Bon Iver, well, by the time he takes the Sasquatch! stage, he may do so with an armload of Grammy awards. So, you know, it's all rather compelling, to say the very least.

In 2011, Sasquatch! celebrated its 10th anniversary with a bill that featured heavies the Foo Fighters, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse, along with the Flaming Lips, Bright Eyes, the Decemberists and more.

Panetta believes Israel may strike Iran this spring: reports (Reuters)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) ? Defense Secretary Leon Panetta believes there is a growing possibility Israel will attack Iran as early as April to stop Tehran from building a nuclear bomb, U.S. media reported on Thursday.

The Washington Post first reported that Panetta was concerned about the increased likelihood Israel would launch an attack over the next few months. CNN said it confirmed the report, citing a senior Obama administration official, who declined to be identified.

"Panetta believes there is a strong likelihood that Israel will strike Iran in April, May or June - before Iran enters what Israelis described as a 'zone of immunity' to commence building a nuclear bomb," Washington Post columnist David Ignatius wrote.

"Very soon, the Israelis fear, the Iranians will have stored enough enriched uranium in deep underground facilities to make a weapon - and only the United States could then stop them militarily," Ignatius wrote.

Ignatius did not cite a source. He was writing from Brussels where Panetta was attending a NATO defense ministers' meeting.

Panetta and the Pentagon both declined comment on the Post report.

Israel, widely believed to possess the Middle East's only nuclear arsenal, views Iran's uranium enrichment projects as a major threat and has not ruled out the use of military force to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Iran says its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.

The Post article said the postponement of a joint U.S.-Israeli military exercise that had been scheduled for this spring may have signaled the prospect of an Israeli attack soon.

Washington and the European Union imposed tighter sanctions on Iran in recent weeks in a drive to force Tehran to provide more information on its nuclear program.

Iran has said repeatedly it could close the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane if sanctions succeed in preventing it from exporting crude, a move Washington said it would not tolerate.

Israel's military intelligence chief said on Thursday he estimated that Iran could make four atomic bombs by further enriching uranium it had already stockpiled, and could produce its first bomb within a year of deciding to build one.

But in his rare public remarks, Major-General Aviv Kochavi held out the possibility that stronger international sanctions might dissuade Tehran from pursuing a policy he had no doubt was aimed at developing nuclear weapons.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said separately that "if sanctions don't achieve the desired goal of stopping (Iran's) military nuclear program, there will be a need to consider taking action."

Stanford used CD funds for cricket, jets: witness (Reuters)

HOUSTON (Reuters) ? Allen Stanford funneled $2 billion of investor money from his offshore bank to pay operating expenses at his other companies, including money-losing airlines and his cricket concerns, a former Stanford Financial Group accountant said on Wednesday.

Stanford, 61, is on trial in federal court in Houston for leading a $7 billion Ponzi scheme from his offshore bank in Antigua in what prosecutors call one of the largest white-collar crimes since Bernard Madoff. The Texas financier has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Henry Amadio, a former accountant for Stanford in Houston, told jurors he created a top-secret report for Stanford tracking the flow of $2 billion from Stanford International Bank in Antigua to other entities he controlled. The funds were spent by Stanford over a number of years leading up to 2009, when the government seized the businesses.

"There's no doubt that those amounts came from Stanford International Bank," Amadio told the jury of five women and 10 men. He compiled the reports using wire transfer records provided by Stanford's treasurers, he said.

The funds, marked as loans at the offshore bank, were never repaid by Stanford, the accountant said.

Prosecutors accuse Stanford of misleading investors who bought certificates of deposit (CDs) from his bank in Antigua. The investors were told their deposits were invested in safe, liquid investments.

Instead, the government alleges, the funds were used to pay for Stanford's yachts and private jets or were put into illiquid entities like private companies.

More than $300 million in deposits were used to pay salary and expenses for Stanford's now defunct money-losing Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun airlines, Amadio said.

Millions of dollars of deposits were also spent on Stanford's passion to promote the sport of cricket in the Caribbean, he said.

Amadio, who worked for Stanford from 2002 until 2009 and has not been charged in the case, said keeping the reports under wraps was a top priority. He was told he would lose his job if he shared the data with anyone.

In the materials he prepared, he was asked by former Chief Financial Officer James Davis to refer to the Antigua bank as "the company down south."

"Everything was to be on a need-to-know basis," Amadio testified.

His reports were also stored on an external hard drive that the accounting department nicknamed, "the football." In 2006, "the football" was moved to Antigua from Houston, Amadio told the jury.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission started an investigation of Stanford CDs in 2006, Gregg Costa, the U.S. attorney leading the case, said.

Mark Kuhrt, who is also charged in the alleged Ponzi scheme and was Amadio's boss at Stanford Financial Group, attended the trial for the first time since it began last week.

Kuhrt shifted in his seat as Amadio told the jury he told his former boss he was concerned about the growing amount of investor money that was being used to pay for Stanford's other businesses.

"He was concerned too," Amadio said.

But Patriots fans can be satisfied with knowing that at Super Bowl Media Day, all indications were that O?Brien is singularly focused on the Super Bowl, and the only time Penn State is a distraction is when the media asks about it.

O?Brien said today that he is delegating the Penn State stuff to the staff at Penn State until he starts that job on Monday.

?This is about the Patriots this week,? O?Brien said. ?I?m thrilled to be the head coach at Penn State, but I?m really focused on the Patriots and trying to do the best we can to put together a great game plan on Sunday.?

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said there has been no change to the game planning process with O?Brien having a second job.

?Bill O?Brien has done everything he normally does, and everything he can possibly do,? Belichick said. ?I?m sure he?s spent some extra hours early in the morning and late at night doing things for Penn State. He?s done everything we?ve asked him to do here, and he has been very diligent in his responsibilities.?

The Patriots have been in this position before, with Charlie Weis coordinating the offense through the Super Bowl after accepting the Notre Dame head coaching position, and that worked out fine for the Patriots. (Weis?s tenure at Notre Dame didn?t work out quite as well for the Fighting Irish.)

Patriots guard Brian Waters offered an interesting assessment of the O?Brien situation, saying he thinks being at the Super Bowl should be great for recruiting.

?For him, this is the greatest recruiting tool he?s got,? Waters said. ?He could have easily walked away and said ?I?ve got my opportunity somewhere else,? but instead he?s seeing it through. He?s as fired up as he was the course of the season.?

Waters also praised O?Brien for the fire he showed in his famous sideline confrontation with Tom Brady.

?As players, we liked [the argument],? Waters said. ?Those are two positions that can be relaxed . . . I don?t want to say pretty boy positions, but they can be. The guys calling the plays and the guy throwing the ball. To see those two be the most fired up two guys on your team, to us as a football player, a lineman in the trenches every day, we have an appreciation for that.?

Penn State fans can be glad to know their coach is fiery, and not a pretty boy.
