On the 11th-13th of August 2011 the annual event called Tug Fest takes place. The three day event is based around a tug of war competition between 11 teams fighting for the bragging rights to the Mississippi River. The Teams from the towns of Port Bryon in Illinois and LeClaire in Iowa compete by facing each other across the river.
The eleven twenty man teams battle to make gains on the 2400 foot long rope that spans the river and weights six hundred and eighty pounds. The first event took place in 1987.
As well as the tug of war that is the main event there is lots of entertainment including live music, a parade, children?s games and fun activities and a huge firework display. The event is great fun for all that attend.
